Story of the Week: Squad up

As the unit expands bringing in more recruits, we are very excited to announce the implementation of a new squad. This squad signifies the growth as a whole this unit is experiencing. Large influxes of recruits flood into our Teamspeak and Server and are bringing the original view of the unit into reality.

With the amount of members the Rangers see this as an opportunity to continue their involvement in the competitive aspect of Red Orchestra 2. The Rangers began training for a match in the TWI Bolt Cup against the randomly drawn team the [Pirates 29ID] GMT team. After a week of training for the match on the map Station, the match was put on hold due the server having technical difficulties. The match has yet to be rescheduled and will be played as soon as possible. We would like to thank all members who have used their free time to help the team prepare for the match.

Lastly we would like to encourage everyone in the Rangers to recruit new members to the Rangers. With this comes Recruitment Badges which will be issued as follows: Bronze, Silver, and gold. More info is available on the website.

Story of a Ranger: Pvt. Pappy Smith

Being born in Georgia on November 28, 1941, Pvt. Smith is by far the oldest and most respected members of the 2nd Rangers due to his 22 year service in the United States Navy and 25 years in the Civil Service. The first video game he played was Red Baron 3d on the PC. This game was a flying simulation set on the Western Front of World War I. In his own words, the reason he started playing video games was “[He is] just young at heart and didn’t know old folks were not allowed to like computers”. The reason he joined the rangers is that he is a history buff and was impressed by our serious interpretation of realism and the serious gaming that we participate in. He has enjoyed his experience thus far and has met many sharp and intelligent people.

Pvt. Smith’s favorite fish is the “Flounder or Catfish – along with hushpuppies, coleslaw, and icedtea”.
