Awards and Medals

As a member of the 2nd Ranger Battalion, you may be awarded various Awards and Medals for going above and beyond what is required of you to be a member of the unit.

Marksman Proficiency Badges

Marksman Badge

Awarded for proven proficiency with related weapon class.

Sharpshooter Badge

Awarded for above average consistency of skill in the use of related weapon class.

Expert Marksman Badge

Awarded for the highest level of excellency with related weapon class.

Individual Soldier Medals

Army Distinguished Service Medal

Awarded for making notable contributions to the completion of multiple mission objectives during multiple engagements with the enemy over a long period of time, or actions considered exemplary beyond what is considered otherwise feasible.

Silver Star Medal

Awarded for making notable contributions to the completion of multiple mission objectives or the survival of one’s entire team during a major engagement with the enemy.

Bronze Star Medal

Awarded for above and beyond contributions in combat to the completion of a mission objective or the survival of one’s squad during engagement with the enemy.

Legion of Merit Medal

Awarded for continuous dedication to one or more staff offices over a period of at least eight months, providing multiple high quality contributions to the unit during that period.

Defense Meritorious Service Medal

Awarded for contribution to one of the major staff offices of the unit in some critical or exceptional fashion, work deemed irreplaceable.

Joint Service Achievement Medal

Awarded for major contributions in establishing or maintaining relations with another unit.

   

World War II Victory Medal

Awarded for achieving victory in either a Red Orchestra 2 or Rising Storm campaign, and attending at least 75% of said campaign missions.

   

European-American-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal

Awarded for participating in a Red Orchestra 2 campaign, and attending at least 75% of said campaign missions.

   

Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal

Awarded for participating in a Rising Storm campaign, and attending at least 75% of said campaign missions..

   

American Campaign Medal

Awarded for exceptional Leadership of Competitive activities over the course of multiple official unit scrimmages and/or tournaments.

Soldier’s Medal

Awarded by Company Headquarters or higher command for achievements of merit not fitting the requirements of any other medals.

Meritorious Service Medal

Awarded for contribution to one of the major staff offices of the unit in a meaningful and beneficial fashion.

Army Commendation Medal

Awarded by Platoon Headquarters or higher command to a soldier in recognition of success not deserving of the Soldier’s Medal.

Armed Forces Service Medal

Awarded for notable and loyal service to a staff office.

Purple Heart Medal

Awarded to those survivors of a unit of eight or more, during an engagement involving at least Twenty total combatants, in which said survivor’s unit has been reduced to at least 25% of its initial strength.

Army Achievement Medal

Awarded for achieving Victory or a Stalemate in an official scrimmage or competitive match with 9 or greater members on the team

American Defense Medal

Awarded for achieving Victory or a Stalemate in an official scrimmage or competitive match with 8 or fewer members on the team.

Good Conduct Medal

Awarded for 80% attendance and no demerits over a three month period.

Army of Occupation Medal

Awarded for 50% attendance over a six month period.

Army Recruiter Badge

Awarded for bringing recruits to the unit. Recruits must become full members to count toward total. Three grades of award in total, depending on total number of recruits.

Unit Support Ribbon

Awarded for monetary donations to fund the unit, additional award grades awarded for cumulative donations.

Honorary Discharge

The ‘Ruptured Duck’ is an Honorary device to be pinned to the Lapel, granted for Honorary Discharge from the 2nd Rangers Battalion, to Retired Rangers.

Combat and Identification Badges

Expert Infantry Badge

Granted for acquiring proper weapon training in every possible weapon category within an associated Theater of War, and specializing in the use of one of these fields as an Advanced Infantry Training. A soldier may earn multiple EIBs, but only one per Theater of War.

Combat Infantry Badge

A holder of an EIB may earn a Combat Action Badge, or an increase in the Grade of their Combat Action Badge through participation in an appropriately length Tour of Duty. A Tour of Duty must consist of a notable lengthy and engaging commitment outside of regular Drills and Trainings, including (but not limited to) Significant participation in a Campaign and Reaching an appropriately late round in A Competitive Tournament.

Combat Action Badge – Silver

Awarded for completing a non-tournament based realism combat engagement, additional grades awarded for successive combat actions.

Combat Action Badge – Bronze

Awarded for completing a non-tournament based competitive combat engagement, additional grades awarded for successive combat actions.

 

Unit Citations

Meritorious Unit Citation

Awarded to a squad or platoon that demonstrates the highest caliber of skill in the unit.

Unit Auctor Citation

Awarded to all founding members of the 2nd Ranger Battalion for their work and time invested in the creation of the unit.
